The Cheap Quote
It’s unwise to pay too much but it’s worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, all you lose is a little money…that’s all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought was incapable of doing what it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot… it can’t be done. If you deal with the cheapest quote it is well to add something for the risk you run and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
To get ‘the deal’ Mr Plumber will often offer you only the cheapest boiler he can source with the cheapest controls. A lot of plumbers are unaware of the differences that boilers offer. He will probably be very punctual, very clean & tidy in his work ethics, produce amazingly tidy pipework, leave your house cleaner than when he arrived and not drop any last minute extras on you , but you will still only own the cheapest boiler on the market. This might not be what you want. My policy is to make sure you can make your own informed & educated choice.
